Astra question

Apologies for an Astra questrion on the Vectra forum.

My daughters Astra has an internal coolant leak,possibly due to either a head gasket leak or cylinder head fault.

The car runs perfectly apart from topping up the coolant every couple of hundred miles and white smoke/steam from the exhaust.

If presented for an MOT would this cause a failure due to emissions.

I have had a "sniff test" done at two different places, it failed at one and passed at the other. I have done my own block test and the test fluid changed from blue to green whereas the instructions for the kit said a failure is indicated by the fluid turning yellow. This leaves me rather confused.

I would appreciate your opinions.

It will more than likely fail for high hydro carbons due to not fully buring the fuel correctly.
