    Default engine problem or exhaust?

    hello hope someone can help.

have a 150 cdti 2008 plate runs brilliant then every now and then car sounds noisey and mpg goes through the roof done to 19mpg on moterway when usually 40mpg and smell slight burning from exhaust and exhaust sounds noisey.

and usally when usually when sitting still it says 0.01 mpg on the computer it also goes up to 1.16 mpg anyone any ideas is it a exhaust block or engine fault?

    thanks in advance

if your car is an auto dancam, then she will have a dpf. what you are experiecing is a normal regen, they usually take about 20 mins to complete. Nothing wrong with the car at all.

Hmmm???? normally dpf's are fitted to Veccy estates and auto's, also all Signum cdti's have them too. First you need to determine if she has a dpf, but even so 3 times in a week is alot, mine does a regen every 700 to 1000 miles, but she does alot of slow cold runs, which tend to fill the soot trap faster. If the car is used alot on the motorways, normally the regen period is extended. If she has a dpf and does regen, DO NOT TURN THE ENGINE OFF till the regen has completed. There is a way to tell if you have a dpf, its a code on the drivers side door B post, look at the little black plate, if it has 0.50 in a little square, then your car has a dpf.
