Default New Insignia - what options?

    Hi,

I'm looking at ordering a new Insignia to replace the vec which is about to turn 3.

I was after the SRi Nav CDTI [160] model, but it makes more sense financially to go for the Elite Nav after I added the options I wanted on the SRi.

It has to have AFL, Tech Pack (front & rear parking control & Bluetooth), VXR styling pack, bigger wheels (19's or 20's) and folding mirrors.
Therefore, it makes sense to go for the Elite when I am adding upwards of £4k of options as most of these (plus more) are standard, and it actually works out cheaper to have the Elite anyways.

These are the things I would appreciate others input on, if you have them:

Should I upgrade to the Sport Leather Pack (SLP) from the standard comfort leather? I like that the standard leather has memory function by the key so when different users unlock the car, the mirrors and seats are ready for them when they get in. I presume the SLP doesn't have the memory function as the seat has to be manually moved forward or backwards?
So, is the Comfort leather comfy, supportive for more spirited driving?

19's or 20's? I like both, I think the 19" Elite alloys look smart - car looks almost german/beemer 5 series with them on and the VXR kit.
20's - put off buy the cost of the rubber. My current vec has 19's and the rubber isn't cheap - 20's is only more!

What is the difference between the Elite and SRi chassis wise? All I can see from the VX blurb is that the SRi has lowered sports suspension - are the dampers changes or just the springs?
I want something that will handle well and not wallow. Or should I look into the Flexride suspension?

Gopping wood trim on the dash - how easy is this to remove (has anyone tried) all around (seen forums on the main dash but not the doors and upper trim under the windscreen). Will find out from dealer how much the piano black parts are separately, or will look to have them vinyl wrapped.

I think that is all for now - hoping to order this weekend as dealer is saying May for delivery!!!

    Thanks

    but they're cheap!

My vec is not that well built, ok speed wise (and insignia felt pretty much the same as my 1.9cdti 150) and ok on the fuel consumption... and was also cheap!

Any 'peeing on the bonfire' gen?

I randomly do the car confiurator on vauxhall.co.uk and the elite is a better option for spec IMO.

And TBH, I would rather my butt be in a sporty seat than a comfort seat, I like to be held, not sliding on a bench! For all the effort of moving the seat and mirrors.

One option is to tell Mrs jsr645 that the insurance would not allow her to drive due to her not understanding the offside rule

i'm with you on this ! had a 745 bmw before the VXR , it only had the SE seats , used to slide all over if driving with any vigour !
