    Default Does anyone know.....

    ..... about airbags?

Ive bought a 3 spoke sri steering wheel to replace my old 4 sopke jobbie on my 52 reg Vectra Club - so my question to you guys is what sort of connection am i likley to find behind my old 4 spokes airbag?

ive sourced a 3 spoke airbag from an 05 reg vectra sri but im just wondering if the connections will be the same. The airbag i have has the 2 pin connection, i think they are yellow and purple.

Would really appriciate any info on what kind of airbag connection my car has so i can hopefully fit it tonight if its the right one.

    cheers guys

    Matt

Your 52 plate will only have one airbag connection in the car, so the two connector 05 airbag you have, I'm afraid, isn't going to fit. It changed from one connector to two connectors in MY 2003.5 (May 2003) so you'll need an airbag from then or before.

I don't know 100%, but I'd suspect it's very, very unlikely as you'd have to change looms somewhere in the car - and then the car would need to know that it's got the different airbag to trigger it properly.

Given that it's an airbag, I'd be inclined to leave well alone (in terms of changing any wires etc.) and just source yourself the one connector airbag. Last thing you want is an airbag not firing when it should - or even worse, firing when it shouldn't!!
