By plug in, do you mean it has been disconnected from the car battery?

If so, it's locked itself and needs the radio code entering to unlock it. The process to do this is covered in the audio manual - look in the section for the model of stereo that you have.

The radio code itself can be found on your car pass card - the credit card-sized piece of cardboard that has the car's various security codes on it.

You can get the car pass card from a dealer. This has various security numbers on it so it's advisable to have it before you (urgently) need it for something.

This will get you into the stereo if it is the original one for your car.

I haven't needed to get a replacement myself, but I think you have to take proof of your ID and proof that you own the car to the dealer. Probably best to call ahead and check first so you don't waste a journey. I'm not sure what the cost is.

If it's not the original radio, it's off to the Internet to find a company that can get the code out of the stereo for you. Someone who has had to do this may be able to advise you of some companies to try if it comes to this.

Perhaps so if the unit you have is not the original one as the stereo code on the Car Pass on't be right. However, if it is the original unit for the car, then remember that the Car Pass also gives you all of the other security codes for the car, which you may need in future.
