Default Power steering failure - problem

Hi, Have a 2004 Vectra C 1.9cdti (120) estate - this morning did a round trip of around 100 miles and on my return a few hundred yards from home, while stationary at a junction I lost the power steering and the dash warning light came on. As I started to pull off it came back again and I was able to get home. I left it standing for a short while and it was not working again when I next turned it over . I have checked the obvious, fluid etc and that seemed ok - the only thing that I did find was that the main electrical connector was loose and was not properly fastened i.e the red clip on the back of the plug was not properly positioned locking the connector in place, and it could easily be pulled off. Cleaned all contacts etc. When I came to restart it the p/steering was not working until after a few minutes and then it started and seems to be ok since.
Suspect it may be the pump on the way out or perhaps (if lucky) the bad connection causing the problem.
Can any one tell me please

(a)if I replace the pump does it have to be reprogrammed using tech2

    (b) If I have disconnected the main plug / feed to the pump - would it take time to reset itself - hence the initial failure to work properly when reconnected

    (c) Does anyone know of someone in the Nottingham/Derby area with access to Tech 2 who could reprogramme a new pump when fitted.

Thanks - any help / advice appreciated

Before you replace the pump, have the alternator checked by a decent garage.

    Default

Wait until the fault becomes permanent

When the warning light comes on , put an indicator on, then cancel it
If the indicator continues, the CIM has failed
