Default Regular v Super - Fuel Consumption

I have recently read a few posts where folks are finding that they get better MPG with the more expensive grade of petrol.

What fuel do you use, in what car and what MPG are you getting?

I am going to try the same with a couple of tanks of the more expensive, higher octane and see what the results are.

I am using Tesco's regular in a Vec C SRI 2.0T with remap.

Typical driving i am getting around 32mpg to the gallon, and about 38 on a long motorway run.

    What about you?

try a couple of tanks of the momentum (99 octane) and see how you get on, I have a lowly 1.8vvt... it seems to like it & its not as expensive as fuels like V-power & ultimax

Reduces the chance of detonation etc, although if it was mapped to run on 95 then why not use it?

It ran 95 before the remap, and has run 95 ever since.

So i have no idea if the remap was done with either 95 or higher octane in mind!

I think i am going to give the momentum ago and see if i can see any improvments in running and possibly better mpg.

Of course its true. All petrols contain a small amount of water.

Chances are though, Morrisons petrol still meets the relevant BS number, but might be slightly lower octain rating than other fuels.
