Default New Tyres, what brand would you recommend...............................

i need a new pair of front tyres for my 2.2 DTi signum, its done 18k on these so not so bad,
they are however now down to 2mm on the front and 4mm on the back and i'm in the market for new,

    i currently have Goodyear Eagle NCT5 215/50/17's which are W rated ( upto 150mph i understand ) Clicky Linky

anywayz, after trawling ebay i have found a few options , either...

Yokohama velocity xtreme 225/45/17's Z rated

    or

    Continental Barum 225/45/17's Z rated

these work out about £50 each including the postage for 4 brand new ones

    what do you think ???

dont think either of these are bad prices BB however yokohamas are a softer compound than most hence good grip but they only last about 10,000 miles so will need replacing sooner conti barums are a budget tyre so again not good life expectancy on these ive just put two avon zz3 225/45/17 Y rated on my 2.2dti sri veccy from national tyres cost all in £160 and have now done about 1000 miles on them fantastic wet and dry grip and also nice and quiet on the road plus they are a harder compound so (HOPEFULLY) will last a good while HTH!!!!!

    thats v-good,

mine have 2mm left , so will easily get me to 20k if needed, the rears have over 5mm left and are good for ages,

i do however like to get new boota all round, for looks if nothing else

the goodyears have performed well, and are W rated, so are well capable

By far the best tyres I've had were the Goodyear Eagle F1.

I recenty swapped front to back tyres on my 17" eagles. at 20K Ive got 6 mm on the front and 4mm on the back so think they should last for another few 1000's

I used to get 45K out of a set on my vectra B on Mitchelin Energy's

I've got Kumho Ecsta's on my 18's. absolutly useless in the wet. Quite dangerous at times.
I'm not sure what to get next though. want something with a good mix of longevity and grip.
