Hhhhmmmmmmmmm I've heard mixed reviews about this like

My mechanic friend said that especially in a high power high torque diesel the torque and shock it has the the solid flywheel transfers to the gearbox a d wears that out rather than wearing out a dmf which should last a good 50000 miles even if tuned and a dam site cheaper than a gearbox but some ppl say they work fine

I'm sure some one else will have there views or even experiences

We are starting to see transit vans at work with failed gearbox bearings that have had the solid flywheel conversion done.

The DMF helps absorb harmonic vibrations. Without it they are transferred to the gearbox.

My opinion on the DMF is simply user error. The solid mass will allow the torque spikes found in the lower rpms to transmit to the gearbox and essentially wear out the synchronizers and gear teeth.

Some manufacturers have fitted solid mass flywheels however they have also fitted 'throttle dampening' to release the pressure on hard acceleration.

Just worried that more excessive horsepower will do the DMF quicker."THAN NORMAL"
The 150 gearboxes are pretty bullet proof.

My dmf started going at 64000 miles got it changed under warranty along with a new clutch

I would stick with dmf as gearboxes are strong but with more power and a solid flywheel will be putting alot of strain on gearbox mind

I'm not sure if te 3.0cdti dmf is the same if it is that would be better as it's rated higher I think

It's up to you but a dmf is alot cheaper than a gearbox to replace that's my opinion
