Default trailer indicator tell tale light. yes or no?

I realise this is already ont he forum, but I am asking again because I am not satisfied that what I have read is conclusive.

I have just had a towbar fitted to my 2.0L DTI. It's an 04 reg.
I asked for the dedicated wiring to be fitted.

I get the impression that it is a legal requirement to have some way to tell if the trailer indicator lights are working and that this is usually a buzzer or dash board light. In the case of the vectra the trailer indicator lights failing will cause the indicators to flash rapidly like when a bulb goes on the car, thus satisfying the legal requirement.

    Is this correct?
Does this satisfy the legal requirements?
Should there be a light on the dash to let you know a trailer is connected?
I have also read that the cars rear fog should be disabled when a trailer is connected. Is that correct?
Is there anything else that should happen when the trailer is connected?

All the lights themselves work ok, but I want to make sure that everything is working as it should.

    Cheers

    Kenny

With the genuine VX towing electrics there should be a picture of a green towbar flashing with the indicators. Also if you have bulb failure warning then the system will check the trailer bulbs for faults.

I believe that the fog light disable along with reverse light disable is an option selectable via tech 2. Plugging in a trailer should also disable factory fit parking sensors (where fitted) and the estates electric tailgate

    Default

You need some sort of tell tail for the indicators legally. Normally this is a buzzer in the back of the car.

On a facelift vectra you do not get the symbol on the dash...
