    Thumbs up My Remap Results

I had my 54 plate Vectra Elite 1.9 CDTI Elite 150 Remapped, last Thursday, Ideally I wanted to service the car before getting it remapped & have a new full custom exhaust put on & cat taken out.

Anyway's I paid £175.00 and the before BHP was 155 when I was expecting it to be less after remapping its now 186 at 4000rpm & 399NM .

The think explodes & I mean literally the power delivery is very smooth & I have been reading other posts where the power wheels spins the front tyres I am doing quite well as the car does not wheel spin the power is very smooth all the way to 4000RPM.

The only Thing I am worried about is the power its put out the car seems to have difficulties coping with it at high speeds so what do you recommend I should change for the car top cope more better with the power, I have a K&N Air filter & I think I should change the springs can anyone else recommend anything else & should I do anything extra in the services to make the car last longer? I normally do Fuel Filter, AIR Filter(not anymore) Oil anyone recommend anything else?

BTW I overtook an 52 plate STI Mondeo at 120 & he was shocked as well as surprised BMW 225 176BHP left them both for dead.

    LOL

what do you mean the car is having problems coping with the high speeds? Do you mean the handling and ride quality etc?

Yeah that right, handling and ride quality & anything that you could recommend to prolong the life of the engine. I was told after each drive to let the engine idle for 20-30 seconds before switching off by a technician said it was good for turbo engines to do so.

The springs, shock absorbers, brakes and possibly the tyres should come in for attention when upgrading an engine. Brakes and tyres first, I'd suggest. Closely followed by shocks and springs.

EDIT - Forgot to say, great work on the engine! I bet your pleased with it!

i would say you should consider investing in some aftermarket springs for your car for a start, this will lower it about 30mm (on average) and improve the handling a lot.. The Eibach Pro Kit is a widely used set of replacement lowering springs by vectra and signum owners, I use them myself and noticed the difference immediately.. When i changed my springs I also changed to Bilstein B4 shocks on all corners, these shocks are an equivilent to the factory shocks you have but better made, you do not have to change to these but if it can be nice to be sitting on a nice fresh suspension all round.

The deal with leaving the engine running is only really necessary if you have been spinning the turbo in the last four miles before you about to finish your journey. I realise the diesels turbos spool up at lower revs than a petrol engine so will more than likely still spinning when you stop.. The reason for it the turbo spins at a rediculous rpm and when you turn off your engine the oil starts to drain away to the sump yet the turbo is still spinning and still needs oil or the bearings will wear out prematurely.. Leaving the engine idling for a short time before you switch off allows the turbo to stop spinning with oil still lubricating it.. In essense it cannot hurt your engine to do this..

The Elite comes on stilts. Suspension mods liek lowering springs are a must imo.

Thanks for all the advise guys & I am very please with the results, was not expecting the performance to be so dramatically different. I think I will change the springs first & then on to shocks, anything better then Eibach or are they the best for the job any cheap places you can recommend caveman?

Tyre size currently 215 50 17 should I change to 235 40 18? any good brand anyone can recommend that works well with the vectra?
