    Vehicle : Saab 9-3 Aero

    Trim : Aero

    Engine : 2.8 Turbo V6

    Year : 2006

    Mileage : 62000

    Default Warranty or AA

    Hey peeps,
Been looking at getting warranty for the vectra as its the 2.2 direct low mileage etc and heard about the horrors it can/will experience lol.
So got some warranty quotes range from £190-260 per year. Then a friend of mine told me about the AA and there repair cover. So I did a quote for there full breakdown, homestart on personal cover and the repair cover for the vectra. The quote was £161, but I would get a £70 refund from insurance (just renewed) if I cancel breakdown and if I go through top cash back I would get £50.50 cashback. So it would cost me an extra £40
Difference between the two that I can see is AA will pay max of £500 towards repair costs with a max of 5 claims a year. Warranty cover pays all costs up to £5000 per year (only on certain parts, small print) plus ive read loads of horror stories about warranty companies wriggling out. But cant find feedback about the AA's service, only of my friend who broke down due to coil pack and the AA repaired roadside for no cost within 3 hours of call.

    What you guys think??

I used a third party warranty on my previous Mondeo, waste of paper (although the did pay out on the tyre insurance I had included)

My AA repair cover has just expired
This was an optional extra to breakdown cover
The main disadvantage is you need to call them out to look at the fault, if they cannot repair they authorise you to visit any VAT registered garage, including a VX dealership
The VX dealership I use had an account with the AA so all I had to pay was the £25 excess
The repair is then covered for 3 years
Nearside rear shock absorber (paid for the offside myself at the same time)
Offside rear spring (paid for the nearside myself)
    Windscreen wiper linkage

Had a relation with AA warranty and all i will say is he wasted his money!, they appoint local garages that couldn't find a common issue with his 3.2 gsi, so he contacted them & was sent elsewhere! same result! so he's running it as it is.

I've got to say when i call the AA i've twice had the actual AA and twice local contracted garages, Now i pray that i get the actual AA patrols,
THe AA have fixed two difficult to do at roadside jobs for me at the road side, I phoned them in the middle of the night one time, they sent out a local company, who instantly towed my car home, didnt even lift my bonnet, for what turned out to be low brake fluid level, which surely would of took 2 mins rather than a 20 mile tow?! obviously more money to make on the tow than a fluid top up!

The AA warranty is good as long as you dont mind calling their patrol first, I had to call them out despite my car being about 25yards from my local mechanic who i'd of used to repair simply because their policy required that their patrol is called out to assess the breakdown first

    Default warranty

i have had warrantys before but not worth the paper they are written on!!
when ive tried to get warranty work done have been told any vat registered garage will do the work. only until you take it there, none of the garages it took my car to would touch warranty work, they all said they dont get paid the hourly rate by the warranty company, or didnt get paid at all, think you have to be really carefull about what you buy into these days!!!
