    Unhappy Warning Sign

Hi guys. i have a bit of a problem which the garage can't solve. My brake pad warning light is randomly coming on in the display. Firstly I had the brake pads and detector wires checked. All well. Next I had them wire up the compu ter to check the problem - no record that the warning light had been on. Now coming home came on again. Won't be on in the morning. It's bl**dy irritating driving along with a picture of a brake pad warning light next to your speedo. Any ideas ????

    cheers

Is this a light to tell you that the pads are worn?

Yes, this is the light to say the pads are worn. They both checked the sensor wire in the pads and the computer for codes but nothing was there. It's been on on about 5 occasions - no record ?

    Hi,

I had exactly the same problem with my 03 Diesel SXi. Never could get rid of it. Had the brakes, pads and wiring checked several times...

Would go off for a couple of days, then disappear....then come on again.

Was like it up to when I sold it. When I asked about it later, my regular vauxhall dealer said it never happened again whilst they had it to sell on...

    Weird

Might be something to do with the contacts, Vx had a problem with spurious results from gold contacts and replaced them with carbon in 06.

Or it might be due to vibration, depending on how the sensor works.

I reckon this is your first port of call matey.

I also reckon that you should ask a different 'fitter' to Tech2 your car and look for any fault codes. Most of them don't know how to use this machine properly.

I've just helped (watched ) Drinky change the discs and pads on my car and the wire looks very fragile. If it only costs £8 for a new one, you can either rule it out or fix it with very little dollar.

Just in case you're not aware the wire can be found on the front passenger side on the inside pad.
