After having problems with the power steering fault light randomly coming on without any noticeable change to the steering, it has now turned into total failure mid-journey (on a daily basis) of the power steering, all interior and exterior illumination flickering and once or twice the exterior lights (headlights) have totally failed.
It seems everything electrical is fluctuating or flickering constantly, even the heater blower and electric windows you can hear 'chugging'.
Even weirder is that if i load the alternator by switching on the heater blower to full, it calms down the flickering, and used to stop the power steering from locking out, but now the steering just fails until i turn off the ignition and switch it back on again.
When the power steering locks out, the illumination in the drivers door window switch console starts switching on and off and i can hear a relay start clicking in the passenger footwell somewhere!?
- it also seems to be the quicker i drive the worse the problem is.
I have been to Vauxhall, and they have tried changing the CIM, which did absolutely nothing, and apparently the steering fault codes clear everytime they reset the ecu?
They advised me that it could either be the EHPS pump (at over £1200, no way will that get changed), the steering angle sensor, and alternator at around £380, tbh i don't think they kno whats wrong with it
As it currently also needs a dual mass flywheel, you can see my concern as the costs are spiralling out of control, and strikes are looming at work
Surely if it was the EHPS pump, it just wouldn't work full stop.
If it was the alternator, surely the battery wouldn't be charging?
Can anybody help as im seriously at my wits end with the car
My ownership of my Signum, as can be seen from my previous posts, has been an absolute nightmare, and has put me off owning another vauxhall for life.
- just to add insult to injury, the headlight bulb just blew...........
