    Default Online share dealing

Anyone dabble in stocks and shares? I've been thinking of taking the plunge with Barclays' Market Master for a while. Just wondering if there's any active traders here who can offer some advice.

I bought shares when BP hit rock bottom, and Northern Rock. I have made money and I have lost. Thankfully made more then I have lost but my advice and the only advice I would give is if you can't afford to lose it do not invest.

Just another note I also lend money on Zopa its people lending to people. Had a couple of bad debts but seen a very healthy return on my money invested in that. Personally speaking its a lot safer then shares. Check it out and see what you think http://uk.zopa.com/ZopaWeb/

I hear yah, I'm interested only in penny shares of small tech companies, and new energy companies. The gains and falls are far more interesting to follow.

Rather than trading in shares, have you thought about Spread Betting

I dont do it, but know people who have tried it.

Is that the same as 'day trading'? If it is, then it's too slippery for me. I've read some real horror stories about people losing more than just their shirts.

I invested £650 when it first kicked off. I think that was 5/6 years ago. Take into account bad debt (failure of people to pay their loans back) equals £160

I have never paid a penny in since and my account sits at around £2200. So I reckon I have made £1450 - bad debt of £160 plus charges of around £30 = £1260 on an investment of £650 over 5/6 years

However I must admit interest rates have dropped a lot over the last 5/6 years I did have some where I managed to charge 20% for my part of the loan but now you will average around 8% return on your investment but again you can choose if you lend the money for 12mths or upto 60mths

There are different markets obviously the greater the risk like young uns under 25 the more you can make from lending. I re-invest mine as soon as a repayment is made every month so the money is always lent out
