    Default How long to heat up?

    ive always driven petrols, ive just taken the leap in to a 56plate signum cdti v8, nice car to drive and good on fuel, how ever today was minus 4 and i had the car at idol for about 10 min untill the heaters began to warm up, does this sound about right?

    do petrils warm up faster?

    yes mate my old diese took ages to warm up my new 2.2 direct warms up in a 5 10 min
    Vectra vxr custome remaps egr deletes dpf and diagnostic work all remaps are custome bench tuning avalible all genuine equipment PM for info

    As above, I'm on my first diesel, noticed early on it took a lot longer to warm up. The heater does come on well before the engine gets to full operating temperature though.

    I take its a v6 cdti you have? as you put down v8. If its the v6 you can blame isuzu

    It's mainly due to the construction if the cast block as they absorb a lot more heat than the all alloy petrols.
    Now I need a turbo to keep up!

    i just fire mine up a bit earlier in the morning to let it thaw... had oil burners for years

    Sounds absoloutly right, diesels do take longer to warm up but you should feel heat coming through the heater after about two miles of driving if the thermostat working correctly. The gauge should read 80 to 85 after about 6 miles in cold temperatures, with the heater working.
