Default Are my reflexes too good?

I was driving home last night, through one of the less salubrious parts of Luton. I was slowing for a roundabout when a scooter suddenly shot out of a turning on the right, cut in front of me, then shot up a footpath on the opposite side of the road. It was rapidly followed by a Police Omega, blues 'n' twos going, who slammed to a halt in front of me, unable to chase the scooter up the footpath.
The PC in the passenger seat got out and peered down the path, but there was not much they could do. Eventually, he wandered back to me, and asked if I'd got a description of the rider. Apart from seeing a black scooter, with a rider in a black jacket and a black helmet, I couldn't really help, as I was too busy stomping the anchors to avoid said rider coming through windscreen.
He said that they knew who the rider was, but corroborating evidence would have been useful, or if he'd hit me they could've grabbed him! I think he was a bit dissapointed that I'd stopped in time.
His final comment was, "if you reactions had been a bit slower, or your brakes a bit worse, we'd have had him!"
I think it was a kind of left-handed compliment, as I peeled my face off the windscreen........

The copper would of been happy as he'd of got his collar, but you wouldn't of been very happy -

    1. Hit by (no doubt) stolen scooter, therefore no insurance
    2. Either payout for the repairs on your car or go to small claims court
    3. Theiving little scrotum would know your address if you went to court
    4. Maybe if you had collided with rider, he may of counter sued you for damages.

Some officers just don't engage brain before engaging gob.

    Glad you're OK Phil.

    My sentiments exactly!!
In a scooter versus 2 tonnes of Signum encounter, there can be only 1 possible outcome, but the paperwork (and the bodywork) would take forever to sort out...........

I don't care about the downsides.

I saw a scrote the other day tearing down our street in the middle of the road on an off road bike, no helmet etc.

I floored it & aimed smack bang for him, he had to swerve off the road & hit the kerb hard at an angle, unbalancing him.

Somehow he stayed on, but just avoided falling off. He stopped, doing the macho bit, so I stopped as well, & jumped out of the car, running at him full pelt, but the lucky sw1ne still had his engine running so he took off.

    Prob just as well.

I hate this guy cos I've seen him absolutely flying over paved areas & the park by us, right by kids playing, not on.

He's heading for an accident but s0ds law it'll be one of the kids.

I always listen for his engine & get my son in when he's about.

Sounds like the officer would rather see this perp dead than arrested, probably due to the amount of time he has to waste everytime he's nicked for something, kinda understand that sentiment myself, comes a time when a mans patience is exhausted.

Still you did the best thing for you Phil, if you had hit him you would have had a car that would never be the same again and an insurance policy that would be dearer on renewal due to a claim, perhaps you could get £20's worth of banger next time it happens and be lighting a fag as the perp rides across the front of you, only a thought.
