    Default RIP Peter Brock.

    RIP Peter Brock.
I remember him well, I've seen him race many times on the satelite sport channels before they became the Sky sports football channels.
Passed away today doing what he loved doing...RIP

Peter Brock - now theres a name I remember from my youth. Did he used to do Aussie touring cars thatr ITV used to put on a stupid o clock? Was he the driver they used to have 2-way wired for sound and chat during the race and during safety cars going out and who didnt hold back his language???

It was bad enough that we lost Steve Irwin early in the week but now to have also lost Peter (Perfect) Brock just makes this week a sad one for Aussies.

He was much loved & brought alot of smiles to many peoples faces. It was said that every race Brocky won the next week would see Holden dealers at least double sales of Commodores.

He actually did an interview an hour or so before the race showing off the Daytona & how much he was looking forward to the event.

Another story comes from one of the first spectators on the scene. A sad account of how they knew he was gone as soon as they looked at his limp body. Brocky was apparently still gripping the steering wheel very tightly. The spectator also mentioned he looked his idol in the eye & Brocky was peacefully looking straight back.

His family have graciously accepted the invitation for a state funeral.

    Another sad loss.

    Default Sad Loss

One of the absolute greats of Motorsport.

The attached is intriguing, it dates from 2004. Shows a standard SS Commodore Roadcar (the sports version), a 1979 Holden Torana racing car with Brocky at the wheel then Mark Skaife in the 2004 V8 Supercar series racer all lapping Bathurst.

If you haven't watched it, the current Aussie V8 supercar series is spectacular racing, very fast, exciting and thankfully has rigidly upheld driving standards. Big V8 engined saloons, control tyres and no driver aids. So much better than our anaemic buzzing little BTCC 'dodgem' cars. It's broadcast on 5 at stupid o'clock in the mornings so set your video.
