    Default squeaky fan

about a week ago my fan in the car started to squeak wne on the lowest level. tonight the fan is very intermittent!

is this the dreaded blocked blower or just a goosed blower?

Sounds like you may have water coming in through the pollen filter. Is the passenger side floor wet? Get some wd40 onto the spindle of the fan before it rusts up any more

No, wd40 is only a temp fix.

Use some proper oil on it.

Ideally take the fan housing off and take the motor out so you can get to the bottom bearing properly.

Mine was squeaking and it actually turned out to be that the fan was rubbing on the motor casing. No amount of WD40 or grease would fix that, but a couple of taps with a hammer to move it up the shaft did...

On my old 2.0T WD40 did the trick, and was still working 2 years later when I traded the car in. Problem had been caused by water ingress (blocked drain) before I bought the car.

Take the pollen filter out and look down. You can see the yop of the fan. Use Silicon grease instead od WD40.

I did it last week and not heard a squeek since!

Just beware when you turn the fans on...as the gathered spray will be blown out of your vents!
