Default Had My Handbrake Recall Letter

Just had the letter through that my car hasn't had the handbrake recall done, which would explain why it rolled itself 10 yards down the road only a couple of weeks after I got it!!

So obviously I need to book it into my local Vx garage.

How long does the repair take, do they need the car all day?

Will I get courtesy car as I use the Signum for work?

When I took mine in, it took no more than 5-10minutes! I just waited for it to be done. Think its a very simple modification in the handbrake assembly.

I got a letter today as well about this. Never had any problem with my handbrake, so im not sure whether to bring the car to vauxhall or not. If they could do it while i wait it would be ok.
Is it adjusted/rectified from inside the car or from underneath?

They just move the driver's seat forward so they can access the handbrake lever from the rear footwell and the new spring is fitted into the handbrake lever from the underneath without any dismantling required.

You'll never know they've done anything if they remember to move the driver's seat back afterwards. They only difference you notice is that there's more resistance on the handbrake button - i.e. it takes a bit more effort to operate it.

Make sure the dealer completes the paperwork while you are there - you get a stamped copy so you know it's done and can show it to whoever you sell the car to.

My local dealers both have 'while u wait' slots first thing in the morning.

Ring round until you find a dealer that does.

    Cheers guys,

Although was hoping they'd need it all day AND I'd be entitled to a courtesy car AND the only car they had available on the day was a VXR!!

Will give them a call in the morning.
