    Default real problems help!!!!

ok so i have a vec 2.2sri apparently with the z22se engine
the 1st problem is that recently after about 15 miles the car dropped revs lost power then went into high revs 5k with no foot on the accelerator, there was a yellow light on in the dash board turned the engine off and restarted car engine ok back to full power just with light on

followibg day no light and car ok untl wham it did it all again so off to vauxhall who put it onto the computer which stated no error codes but suggested maybe fuel pump and regulator ay £700 ouch
has anyone else had this problem i would of thought if the pump etc had gone there would be codes on the fauly computer
i would appreciate any help or advice

The 2.2's are renowned for their fuel pumps problems. Altho for £700 i'd want an excact diagnosis before parting with my cash.

My other car. 1972 1641cc slammed beetle. On the road finally!!

    hi
it may be the idle control valve as that what happened to my old vectra sri 140 and it's a cheap fix
as it was starving the fuel input

There is no idle control valve on the 2.2, the actual butterfly does its job. It wont be the Fuel pump/reg problem if you have the z22se as it doesn't have the HP pump only the pump in the tank. If however you have a z22yh then....... Do you drive a hatch or estate?

    Hi Louise, welcome

15 mpg? Would have thought you'd get more than that, unless you're thrashing it Fuel / air mix could be way out. Was the yellow light on when it was connected to the computer, or had it gone out? Was it a spanner light, or the emissions light?

Right so its not the fuel pump/reg then so its not going to be that expensive. The butterfly controls the amount of air the engine gets.

It could be an air leak after the throttle body, or a problem with the TB itself.
