Just a thought how often do you clean your K&N FILTER
I've never cleaned mine... maybe I should
I voted "When its dirty" but tend to do them every 10K or sooner if they are really grubby,
I dont have a K&N...but changed the standard one fitted to the car from new in line with the service book recommendation..... @ 4 years.
Cheers
Can't be bothered to wash mine, plus it can go pete tong if you over- or under-oil them, so I just replace it every year.
Officially they say every 50,000 miles which seems a hell of a lot but more often if in dirty conditions.
Edit: According to their FAQ http://www.knfilters.com/faq.htm#4 50,000 miles for a panel filter fitted in an air box or 100,000 miles for a cone filter.. Errrm, wow

Just a bog standered paper one, Im guessing the origianl was in from new (scary as its a 56 plate) 30 000 replaced with a new paper one .. plan on next new paper one at 40 000 every 10 000.
Mpg went from 35.5 to 42.8 with only air filter change.
