Default Is this a Known Problem - Loss of Power?

I have a 2005 Vauxhall Vectra 1.9 CDTi (150) SRi auto. I have noted that in the summer months (heat a factor?) on a motorway run at a steady 75mph (never around town no matter length of journey) approx 75% of journeys at some point I get the Engine Electronics, Immobiliser symbol lights up on the dash (a car with a vertical spanner in the middle of it). I have had the car serviced and the CPU checked/reset. Two things happens when this light comes on. I get a loss of power, I can coast along at 70mph (if I were doing 70mph) but there is no acceleration and if I get to a hill the car will slow down; the accelerator pedal has no effect. If the cruise control was on at the time the dash board light comes on 99% of the time the cruise control cuts out and you cannot switch it on again. The remedy is to stop the car, switch off the ignition and restart - all is well again. It seems to me a CPU issue as restarting re-sets the electronics but I have had this checked. Any advise appreciated.

By the sounds of it the car is going into limp mode to protect it self from damage, If the spanner light is coming on then there is defo a problem somewhere and the car will store a fault code to say what that problem is. You need to get the codes read.

My other car. 1972 1641cc slammed beetle. On the road finally!!

If it's anything like the DTi the boost sensor may be needing a clean. The DTi goes into limp home mode and doesn't store a code when there is overboost detected. Worth a shot

Might it be the DPF regen'ing?

Thank you for the replies. The codes did not show anything - I have had an 'expert' who has the appropriate tools look at this and there is nothing in the codes that point to anything. I am interested in the boost sensor and 'DPF regen'ing'. Is the boost sensor easy to access/clean and where is it located? Also, apologies for my ignorance, what do you mean by DPF regen'ing?

No, that won't bring on a fault.
