    Question Change of brake pads

Hi folks, after 15 days with the brakes symbol on the dashboard, yesterday I changed the front brake pads, only one of them had a "sensor", so when I finished checked out the dashboard and the round Brakes sign was still on, I unplugged the battery for about 1.5 hrs, then plugged it back switched on the car and the sign was back.

Is there another sensor in the back brake pads? or is there a way to make that sign reset and dissapear?

    Thanx a lot mates

    Saul

There is only one sensor on the front left of the car Saul..

sounds like the wire inside is broken and making a contact. Are you sure it's the pad warning illuminated and not the warning for the handbrake on or the brake fluid level??

it should automatically reset once it doesnt touch the disc again, after it's been put into new pads..

I'd try another sensor lead.. they are only about £10 over here.. if they're stupid money over in mexico give me a shout and i'll get one out to you

i had the same problem and solve it by changing the sensor.
it cost me about 160 in a parts shop in Portales (mexico DF)

there are many stores there that carries GM parts so you may check in several places to buy it cheaper.

It is very easy to change it yourself. You just need to remove the front left tire. and disconect the sensor from the caliper and then from the connector that is located near the mud flap slightly above axl. to unlock the connector you may need a small flat screwdriver but be careful that you apply the force to the old connector that you are going to remove.

it should take about 10 - 15 min to do this by yourself.

Pad sensor usually needs replacing after it has shown the light...it wears down the plastic on the end of it to earth against the disc.

also after you replace the sensor you don't need to do anything else. the warning sign in the dashboard will go away.
