First I MUST get a HUGE thanks out of the way...
Massive, MASSIVE thanks to Caveman_Nige for donating his old green injectors to Amy & I as his way of saying thanks for trekking down to Southampton and helping him work on his car for two days running during his recent turbo/injectors/fuel pump/downpipe etc upgrade. Huge thanks mate, it wasn't expected or requested, but IS very VERY much appreciated and wont be forgotten.
I wasn't going to say anything on the forums, just turn up to the East region Rolling Road day in Feb and surprise a few people with the cars performance, but to be honest I've got such a huge smile on my face after the drive back today that wont go away and I HAVE to tell someone LMAO
Anyway, knowing these injectors were coming, I'd started doing some preliminarys quietly over the last week or two. I bought and fitted a new K&N panel filter last week and started looking around for a suitable map. Having investigated several options, I opted for the Maptun that Nige uses on his car, it's more expensive (a LOT more expensive than some generic maps), but the support is fantastic and it's a custom map for the car not a generic one.
The injectors arrived yesterday morning, so I booked today off work and spent an hour and a half in the chucking down rain this morning changing them over, as I'd booked it into Neo Brothers for this afternoon, and the car started and run fine and importantly, no fuel leaks lol
A quick drive down to Waltham Cross taking it really easy as the map wasnt right for the injectors and eventually found Neo Brothers after going wrong twice (they're a little hard to find lol).
The guys down there are great, we had quite a long wait while information was read off the car and uploaded to Maptun and then a map created and re-downloaded, but spent most of the time chatting to the guys there and drinking the "complimentary" (from the staff supply not the machine lol) coffee lol. Eventually the map was done, dropped onto the car in about 5 minutes and then I was subjected to being a passenger in my own car during a "test drive" (read thrash the nuts off it [a bit like I normally do lol] but with me hanging on for dear life), I've decided I don't like being a passenger at speed lol
They've also told me to get as many readings as possible off the car at the Rolling Road day in Feb and send them over to them and they will tweak the map and make a new one available for me to download and put on the car myself with my shiny new "Maptuner".
Anyway, serious props to Nicholas and the guys at Neo Brothers (which is actually a SAAB specialist but the 2.0T is a SAAB engine, I thoroughly recommend these guys to anyone with the 2.0T or 2.8T (apparently that's a SAAB engine as well and they've done a couple of Vecs with them in now).
End result: Stage 3 remap which they assure me "should" be good for 235bhp
Am I a chuffed bunny, oh yeah baby, the car drives incredibly, the throttle response is instant no matter what gear you're in and has an amazing punch to it. A lot of money, but I don't think I'll be wiping this smile off my face for a long time lol
