    confused DMF or Thrust bearing

Just driven with view to buying a 1.9CDTi 07reg with 50k on the clock, it drives very well, smooth and responsive, but I noticed when I stopped there was a rattle comming from the front nearside.
This rattle dissapeared when the clutch pedel was depressed and returns when the pedel is released, there is no vibration going through the clutch pedel nor is there anything wrong with the feel of the way the clutch works, it just has this knocking noise comming from the engine bay.

Dmf, just had mine done...... like a rattle rattle when the clutch pedal is press about 2inch's in then go's away when pressed all the way in then rattles again on the way back up in the same place???

Clutch an dmf shuld be changed at same time, makes sence with the size of the job. Gear box out job.

Mine was done under warrenty about £400 for clutch and DMF, could pay up to anything for £600 for labour?

    Hope this helps.....

This one seems to rattle untill you put pressure on the clutch pedel, it goes away and comes back when you release it
It does not make any noise when there is pressure on the clutch pedel, which bites about 1/2 way up/down.

to be honest mate it could last a week it could last ages, the thing is there are that many other vecs out there, is it worth it, if you can get the price down to accomodate getting the work done or you can afford to get it done at least you then know it will have been done but dont just keep the rose tinted glasses on like i normally do, i got a bargain with my vec because i knew it needed work so i got money off it,

Is it a trade or private sale?

Your looking at about £1k to have it repaired by a garage so get thet knocked off the price or get them to fix it first.

its trade, when I mentioned it to the garage owner he said it works ok even though its knocking, he told me if I bought it with a years warranty they would repair it when it went wrong, I said what if it does not go wrong in the first year as I only do 6k per year.
His answer was to purchase another years warranty.
