    Default Help please read me

Hi I have been offered :
    Vectra VXR
    Arden
    17k miles
    57 plate
    AFL
    Bluetooth
    Sensors
    Nav

    but....... its an auto.

I am currently getting 28 mpg in my 1.8 Insignia. Its so frustratiing even with the cruise on and sat at 60 on the mway it gives me a current mpg reading of 30~!!!! humph

Am I likely to get MUCH worse economy from the VXR auto?

I really need advise asap as ive now said i dont want the car and the garage are offering me
    12 months tax
    tank of fuel
    mats
£40 towards my payments for the first year
2 years parts and labour warranty (VX dealership)

    what should i do?
    cheers folks

I cant comment on the mpg from an auto box but sounds like a really good offer. Surely the mpg cant be much worse from what your getting in your insignia

i cant see a vxr auto doing much better then your insignia, in fact probably worse, auto boxes do make a huge difference to fuel economy, for the worst..

Just looked at parkers car guide Manual - 27mpg Auto -25mpg. I know that your looking at real life figures, but it may help. I went on a trip in my dad's 2.2 direct Auto box signum, 06 plate with 30k on the clock. Mixture of A1, A roads and decent B roads and city driving did about 150 miles in total, some full kick back overtakes but generally sticking to the speed limits got a return of 30.3 again i know its not a VXR but it is an auto box HTH a bit

this mpg problem is a key for my decision not to get one. Even BMW 5 series get better than the 160 CDTI -
In response to your question ... VXR - same mpg - MORE fun!

i really doubt in real driving conditions that a vxr auto would have the same miles per gallon as a 1.8 insignia..

Have you had a test drive in it? I have an auto 1.9cdti 150 and love driving it, so you may like the auto and put up with the poor mpg, neither a manual or an auto vxr aren't bought for their fuel comsumption fugures, more for the smiling face you have whilst driving them. You only live once.
