I hear loads of people keep cleaning their EGR Valve, so just wondering how many people have removed it instead.

Ordered up a 2mm blanking plate from Ebay. This is when I get remap to delete it as that's the only way with the CDTI's.

I ain't spending £100+ on a new valve. Then there is the cleaning of the current one. Sorry had all the parts off - waste of time. Car is still down on power.

The soot is the manifold killer not the oil itself - hence it would be better for the car if it was eliminated.

That's exactly why I think you are spot on.What sort of remap are you going to have?,as there is a remap specialist about 2 miles away.If it's not too expensive I'm def going to go for it!!. FELIXX. (By the way,am going to pm you about an idea re the EGR and see what you think).

Had mine off the other day and cleaned the valve part (didn't punch out the solenoid) and its the solenoid that seems to be the issue (doesn't move when car started appears stuck in the closed position). Just going to replace valve when I get paid. Might get new gasket that restricts gas flow.

Pm'd you back. Very interesting theory and could work very well. You will be getting round the EGR blanking problem with at. Bear in mind that the valve itself is still not eliminated. Like I say sounds good.

Pm winnie he went to these guys:

Make sure they update the ECU with the correct software too. Point it out to them before it goes in.
