    Default Car Tax Question

The mrs new car is being delivered tonight. It currently has no tax on it and I was planning to tax it tomorrow. What i want to know is if I tax it tommorow will I loose the whole of this month? Would I be better waiting to tax it till next Tuesday? I can park the car on my drive so no probs with it being untaxed and on the road.

You only get 12 and a bit months tax on brand new cars, not 2nd hand ones.

Yes, as others have said, they'll backdate it till the 1st. Does your drive have gates, as if not, they can claim you have public access to it. How do you get on with neighbours? You can argue with them though.
I had an old BMW in my garage once, they said ooof one wheel crossed the threshold (to work on it) it had to be taxed. It didn't, but one of my neighbours (old house) got the reg while garage door was open and reported me for driving it with no tax. When I got the letter I wrote back and told them the radiator was in a local workshop being repaired, and the car had no fuel whatsoever in it, how did they think I was driving it.

My drive is in my back garden and fully gated, so no probs there.
