Im thinking about fitting HID's in mine but not liking the thought of drilling holes in the headlight bulb cover. Im thinking the headlights may start to mist up? Its the only thing putting me off at the minute..

I have had that problem recently.Because the original bulb holder is inside the rubber cover,it doesn't fit very well and comes off too easily for my liking.I cleared mine by using the wife's hair dryer with the flexi type tube attachment and sorted it out,but you can bet it will come off again.Thats why I asked about the HID's4US bulbs.I think these bulb types might be the way forward. I would hope so mate coause i would like to get some, i can imagine it being difficult to seal where the wire goes in the bulb cover, i cant think of anything that will without looking a mess

Yes. Pretty much the standard aftermarket HID set up.

The connecting plug seen in this PICTURE is what connects to the HID bulb wiring. The other wires (they must be behind the ballast out of camera shot) just have spade terminals on that plug into the original bulb connector plug.

EDIT just found a PICTURE of the HID bulbs and wiring.

Ahh! I can see the whole set up now. They are as you said, pretty much the same as all aftermarket sets. You would still have to squeeze the original bulb holder block with the spade connecters in,behind the bulb holder, under the rubber headlight cover. Not much of an advantage then is there?.(I've been thinking of cutting the wiring and re-soldering it with an inline connecter after the cover).Yes?????. Gonna have to do it now as one of the cable connectors has collapsed into about 3 or 4 pieces!!.Managed to get the wire back into the female part of the connector ,but will be re-doing it and using a chop block.Should work, but hey ho,time will tell.

Aftermarket HID kits are for off road use only.

However, providing you don't go overboard with the colour (ie, 6000k max) then you won't draw attention to yourself. Also make sure they are adjusted properly. That way they'll go through an MOT.

    ive 35w 600k HIDs
appart from removing the bumper fitting the kit was a piece of pish.
6000k look quite OEM imo and with the projector headlamps on a vec you get away with them aslong as the are adjusted properly.

drilling the cover was easy just used a wood speed bit at the correct size and the rubber gromit seems to have sealed mine just fine (and we have had some ****ty weather up here) .
