Exclamation Loud noise from front wheels! Please help me! :(

    Hi guys.

Two weeks ago I drove 150 miles to Birmingham airport and just after setting off, I began hearing this strange noise coming from the front wheels. It carried on when a week later I drove back home.

As soon as I go over 20 mph, the noise comes on and sometimes the faster I go, the louder it gets. It only stops when I turn the steering wheel in a certain angle to the left and as soon as I move it from that angle or straighten it up, the noise starts again. The noise gets so loud that I can hear it even though I have my sound system and sub on It is so annoying! Also, it is not major, but I can feel slight vibration when holding the steering wheel, but it is not very prominent. We have checked my tyres, all with good threads and wheel bearings seem good so I have no idea what this could be.

I wanted to ask you guys first what you think it could be before going to a garage and having to pay for something that could maybe repaired at home. If anyone has an idea of what this could be or how much it would be to have it repaired.

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks, Kristy

Is it like a high pitched squealing noise or low rumble kind of noise ?
Is there any vibration through the wheel when you brake ?

Im no mechanic but it could be warped disks or something has come loose on your brake calipers or pads.....definitely something to get checked out...could end up being serious.

Some brake pads have wear buttons in them so they squeal when the pads are low.

    Good luck

It is more like a low rumble noise, it sounds like as if I was driving down a road made out of pebbles or stones. I've just had all the breaks and pads changed a few months ago. There is no vibration coming from the wheels when breaking. The noise becomes more prominent when going 40 mph, then it gets really loud.

    Thanks

    Exclamation

I asked my boyfriend to look at my car today and this is what he found/noticed:

Once the car was jacked up, the wheel could be wobbled slightly by hand. We took the wheel off and again, the brake disc could be wobbled by hand. The cv shaft would move slightly back and forth with the brake disc. The bearing was replaced about 5-6 months ago, any idea what the issue could be?

    Thanks.

I can hear the noise inside the car, it is like a loud humming sound which stops when turning left at a certain angle. It is more prominent between 30 and 40 mph.. Hmm..

A wobbling brake disc could still be a wheel bearing problem

Sounds like a bearing or the drivers side drive shaft bearing to me!
