Vectra c 2.0 turbo petrol

Hey

I have a vectra sri 2.0 turbo petrol 2003..got in too car saturday afternoon turned the key and nothing only loud clunking from starter and insrument lights flickering ...tryed jump start ..same ..replaced starter still the same...changed starter relay also...start car on a short run and everything seems fine. also when starting there seems too be an acid smell around the battery area???? Car has 120000miles ...Ant help...altenator maybe !!!!!

change the battery bud, iv just put a vx 1.9cdti battery in mine starts first time every time, the cold weather kills batterys!!

Virtually all garages can test the alternator and the battery to determine which of them is at fault, and it doesn't even mean that you then have to use them for the repair. If it is the battery then you can buy one and fit it yourself.

no prob btw iv got a 2.0t aswell, iv went for a bigger battery works a treat
