Default 120 CDTI left idel over Christmas...Now no power

Trawling the forum for help I suspect the EGR?

The car was left standing for 2-3 weeks over Christmas. Before hand it was OK... Occasional slight stutters but I put that down to me being over sensitive.

Now basically, I no power until 2700 RPM. On the motorway, I have to shift down to 4th to "accelerate" from 60-70. By the time the engine reaches 3000 RPM power is coming back but not as much as I am used to. In 6th gear the car will maintain speed but not accelerate. Overtaking is no longer an option but fuel consumption has improved.

No lamps on the dash...just the sound of Clarkson shouting COME ON!!!!

5 1/2 years old and 85k on the clock! 120 cdti 888 remap.

Hi... i had the same problem I have a remapped 120 and it was the egr and it needed
the update vauxhall software to go with it...so you will have to get the car remapped after as the new software is completely diffierent to suit the new modified egr valves
I have a spare new egr that was on for 50 miles if you want to buy from me

the only reason i had 2 new ones is because my car started surging with the new egr on ,so i tried another but it was missing its new software which vx done for me
pm me if you would like the egr valve and ill give you my number to sort it... regards

I had similar probs with my 150 cdti, turned out to be a split turbo vacuum hose. Nice and cheap to fix

    Thanks guys,

I de-coked the engine last week... no good.. I haven't had the time to get the EGR off yet. What is this about software upgrades?

I don't know anything about EGR updates,I have an "04" 150,and just put a new modified one on and it ran perfectly,no issues whatsoever. FELIXX.

HHmmm Tried to remove the EGR tonight before it went dark..FAIL.

Couldn't budge the allen screws holding the bottom hose on. the one comming from the bottom of the engine into the underside of the EGR. I noticed a Jubilee (?) style clamp on the other end of the hose....I was tempted but HMMm This was all I could get off.

Don't really want to trash the bolts and then have to go to the garage.....Still, I got the boost sensor off and gave it a clean. Seams to have made a small difference in the turbo pick-up.

the two bolts holding the pipe to the underside of the egr are as i recall torx bolts, not allen key head. Make sure you use the right torx socket as an allen key socket will very likely knacker the bolts. It is normal procedure to remove these rather than the clamp further down the pipe at the egr cooler, but if you must remove that clamp, be careful to catch the circular gasket that is in there,a s these cannot be bought seperately.
