Default HELP, Battery and Alternator Questions.

    Ok, here goes:
Was driving home from Ormskirk to Rainford (approx. 7-10 miles) last Sunday, when the battery light came on, so took it to local Garage who confirmed my Alternator had gone, so booked it in for Friday (21st) to have a new one fitted, 2:30pm, they rang me and told me the car was ready for collection. Picked it up after work and took it for a little drive, after 3 minutes of starting the engine the battery light came on again. So took it back where he tested it and all his lights on his tester lit up (indicating no faults) so been using it everyday since then, driving about 40 miles a day, and on every occasion the battery light has come on after 3 minutes. The thing is everything is functioning perfectly, no loss of power steering, no loss of fans, nothing, just a pesky little red light on my dash.

Any1 any ideas what this could mean?

get the fault code read on the car, i bet it will say something like generator lamp fault. You can get this quite a lot on aftermarket alternators. Sometimes fitting yet another alternator will cure it.

take it to kwik fit or nationwide. they will test the battery and alternator for free. if it turns out to be the alternator then take it back and get the garage to replace it FOC.

That's what is baffling me, my local garage has tested it with their tester and its showing up as "no faults" :-s

Also, what does "generator lamp fault" actually mean?

generator lamp is normally the bit of it that indicates to the car that its charging properly. So whats the outcome of this one then?
