Eek VX MAIN DEALERS,WHAT A LOAD of !!!!.

Took my veccy 150 in for a "major" service today at 8.30,and,after booking it in etc, etc, left at around 9'ish,with the car still parked in the car park.About 11 o'clock,I got a call from them telling me that my car was ready.Crickey,(or word's to that effect),that's quick for a full service I thought!!,.....(you know what's coming, don't you?),yep, your right, charged me nearly £200 and only changed the oil and filter. No fuel filter,no brake fluid,no lube on the door slides/locks/bonnet etc, etc,No pad/disc wear report, and to cap it all off, they charged me £6 for a washer refill and the bottle was empty!!!.I had asked them for a couple of queries which they didn't do,so I had to wait for the "technician" to finish his break to do them, then, when I eventually got hold of the safety check sheet,it was a photo-copy of a blank one with everything ticked off with a blue pen!!,(how he'd managed to do the tread depth on each tyre from the other end of the car park is beyond me).
Of course,I didn't actually check anything until I had arrived home and went through everything, and that's when the fight started.Talk about "please don't p**s up my leg then tell me it's raining" crap,I went ballistic, absolutely and uterly mental, threatened them with the dreaded trading standards, everything!.
Eventually, the service manager agrees that there has been a "serious error of judgement"by their staff, and kindly made arrangements to re-service the car first thing Thursday morning.
I can't wait for Thursday,I'm wondering what sort of reception I'll get. There's one thing for sure though,I"m betting with the wife that they give the car a full valet a wash and polish..................Watch this space. FELIXX.: target:

Nice one mate.. Hope you actually get the service you had paid for.

It does make you wonder how many people take cars in, pay their money and have been nothing less than royaly ripped off.

I had my major service last year, and when i got home, for some reason i thought ill check the pollen filter... Nope, not changed. Went back and it was done straight away.. I now wonder how many of the other major service things were ignored.

Personally, i would like to have a copy of the major/interim service schedule and stand there and watch it being done... Bit of a shame when you even have to consider things like that.

I always feel like once I've complained they're going to get their revenge some how. For instance, if you return a steak at a restaurant that is over cooked, I always worry that the one they replace it with has been spit on and shoved down the chef's trousers!! Probably me being negative, btu thats the way I think.
Will be brilliant if you get the nice valet service instead lol.

    Been there, seen that

A trick is to put discreet date stamps on the parts (date of last service)
Ask for the parts back and to be placed in the passenger side footwell (air filter, pollen filter), supply a box lined with a bin bag for this purpose
Check the oil and look for the new clean oil filter
Check these BEFORE leaving their premises

The brake report is nothing more than a simple indication now, measurements need not be supplied

The brake fluid is a check only, topup only if required
Different if you actually need a brake flud change though (three years, then every second year) and you need to request this before work commences

Finally, if the car is on EcoFlex, then a major service may only be oil, oil filter, and pollen filter
Always clarify what exactly they will be doing when booking the car in AND when leaving the car
I now use a blank service sheet for this, the items I want are marked with yellow marker

    Sorry to hear your problem.

I have always wondered what actually happens when a garage say they "Serviced" your car and present invoice for a "Service".

    Now I know

The term Service is so vague hence I have always undertaken them myself to ensure things are done correctly.

I bought a car and they said it will be Serviced before delivery - well the oil was still the same colour (black) as when I first viewed the car - however they did stamp the log book so I guess that counts.

Glad I do it myself - silly old and cynical me
