    Default 1.9 CDTI thermostat

I know this has been discussed a lot, however I phoned vauxhall today to ask what they thought, also got a quote of £190 just for the thermo.

The guy in repairs said to me not to worry to much about this as it does not always read correctly. Now tell me if I am wrong but why would a major car dealer put a function on a car that does not work properly????

Anyway, was wondering, those that have had it changed does it make any difference?

Yup, Changed mine last week warms up in a few minutes/couple of miles and always reads 85ish now. Whereas it would bounce mainly from 0 up to 65-70 beforehand and take ages to warm the cabin...

Yes you can still drive it, side effects will only be maybe cold heater and an increase in fuel consumption. it's more of an issue on cars fitted with a DPF as colder running creates more soot and hence can cause more frequent regens.

£55 from vx, 30 mins job to do yourself, if uve got a dpf do it asap as engine cant do regen properely as it cant get the engine hot enough to burn out the soot and it will totally block it up.

There is a how to for a 150 on here.

I spoke to vauxhall yesterday about this and they quoted me £196 for just the thermo. I thought that was a ridiculous price.
