    Talking New Signum Owner :)

    Hi Folks,

Another new Signum (Elegance 2.2 DTI) owner here....going from a L200 to this now were talking

    How smooth is the ride!!

Any how, folks I have my first problem if anyone would care to help, it would be most appreciated....

The dreaded Bonnet is stuck, the cable seems to be detached at the bonnet end, no tension whatsoever

Ive read through previous posts on this and tried pretty much everything apart from bumper removal, now the question i have:

If removing the bumber, will i be able to get my hand upto the catch and release with it having the twin radiators...

Has anyone managed to do this?

    Many Thanks

    Jase

    Welcome to Vec-C

Some people have managed to do it from under the car with a long bar, others have found the only way to do it is to smash the grill!!!!!!

Try giving thebonnet a hard push down on the forward edge some times they can be shocked loose
if this fails then its !
    quick way
question one do you have an original vx grill if you do best option is to just break the grill (vx grills have self tapper screws)
then pull rubber valance off thn get a large screw driver and give the spring mechanism a wack from below
slow way if you have an irmscher or after market grill
    remove bumper
    remove slam bar
using a 7mm socket remove the 8 nuts from the grill from the inside
    remove rubber valance as above
    then same as with screwdriver
if you took it to a garage all they would do is break the grill regardless of what it was vx or after market

Thanks for your replies folks, Yes it does have the standard grill, so your saying, best to smash this in...if i do is there enough room to open the release?

I have knocked out the lower grill but cant quite reach up to it

I would much prefer how ever to remove the bumper, but will the fixing on the top hinder the removal, i would have to break these also?

    Where is the slam bar?

Sorry for so many questions, im loathed to send it to vauxhall...quoted £65 + dreaded just to look at it

    Cheers

The slam panel is directly behind the top part of the bumper and is basically what the bumper sits on .
to remove the top fixings first you need two wooden spoons and a small flat screw driver
Slide one of the spons in between the bonnet and the bumper lift slightly and slide in other one next to working towards the centre this will lift the bonnet enough to use the screwdrider inserting into the cap to lift the centre peice then just lift and remove.
i have enclosed some pics top shows the locking spring mechanism that you have to release and the valance that you have to rip out if you pull it from the left hand side the left hand locking pin is reach able just push the centre out and it will pull free. the bottom pic shows the car minus the bumper and slam bar its at this stage the grill would have to come out if you wanted to save it but with a vx grill its just not possible to get your hands in behind to use a screw driver
