very nice Mark and welcome to the forum

in answer to your inital question have you checked the Fluid level ?
and when the light comes on do you still have power assistance on the steering or is it heavy ? - if you restart the car when the light comes on does it go away or does it stay on ?

just a few questions which might help in determining the cause of the fault

hi dez, fluid seems fine

i dont get a light on when it goes, it can be fine for a couple days then just one morning i'll start and its gone, then around 10-15 mins into the journey it comes back. Had a read of a few posts and it says possibly the battery & alternator so will check these tonight

I'll get some pics of the Vectra up tonight, its got lexus lights which im not to keen on so will be on the hunt for some std rear lights
