    Default not again

Have a 2.2 sri 52plate petrol. About year and a half ago had my timing chain start to go got that fixed and on the way learnt that it was a design fault with the nozzle fitted as standard was to small.(thanks to you guys)
Drove the car other day and have the same sound coming from the timing chain area again (left side of the engine) took the car back to garage he had alook and rung me that afternoon to say he had had a look and it was the chain near the timing chain had gone, but he would have a look at it more today and come back with an answer and a price. But i would be looking at the same or more as what i paid.
Would really like some advice on this and is this common i would have thought that when he changed the timing chain first the kit would have covered this!
i will repost later when i have spoke to him. Thanks once again chaps

Get a balance shaft deletion done, cost you about £150 and give you about a 10bhp increase at the same time (roughly).

Edit: ignore me, you still need the chain for the deletion to turn the dummy cogs in their bearings... DOH!!

Ian that went completely over my head. but any suggestion on increase in power would be good. the 2.2 seems to lack that edge

Look up balance shaft delete on www.z22se.co.uk forums. Basically the two balance shafts are removed and dummy bearings with cogs on put in their place. The balance shafts spin at twice the engine speed and take power to do so, because of this, if you remove them, you can also have the rev limit raised as it's there to stop the balance shafts disintegrating basically because of the speed they're spinning.

You'll only get about a 10bhp increase from it, without supercharging it, there's not a massive amount you can do to the 2.2

Do the airbox mod, fit a decent panel filter, balance shaft deletion and a decent exhaust system should give you another 15 or so bhp.
