Default A sign of things to come with doctors?

Went to the quacks. Been feeling a bit off and had a couple of days off. Had a lump at the side of my throat pressing against windpipe, jaw ache, earache and the mother of all headaches. Bit like a migraine but no tenderness to light.

So off I trot to the dr,s who spends about 60secs at his desk listening, looks up and hands me a perscription

I looked at him and said "So what is it?"

He replies "Torn Muscle" ......"Huh?" I replied

Classics symptoms he replies and gives me a perscription for £7 for a tube of basically deep heat

I'm pretty miffed by this and he did not even check the lump in my throat so I toss the perscription and drive into the city and go to the walk in centre. In 5min appt she confirms I have a sinuses infection that has resulted in my lymph nodes becoming blocked hence the lump in my neck and I need a strong case of antibiotics and need to keep an eye on the swelling in my neck because of where it is. If it continues to swell it will need to be drained.Luckily it has and is going down

I know doctors are stretched but wow it kind of hit home I could have had the start to throat cancer and these guys arn,t even taking the time to even check out the patient.

Part of me wants to make a complaint but the other thinks well its sorted now. But I would hate for anyone else to be misdiagnosed and end up in a serious condition. What would you do?

agreed misdiagnosing a complaint is pretty serious .....even if you report it to the practice manager and they sort it out formally its a step in the Right Direction

but if the doctor can misdiagnose something that simple then are they in the right job .....

i mean you would complain if a mechanic told you that you needed to flush your engine and it actually needed a replacement timing belt

this is somones life they are playing with

0-Large smile ......every time it's driven

Not so much a sign of things to come, More of a sign of what they have become already.. I've had 3.5 years of being treated like **** by the NHS...

Sounds like your doctor should have the initials CBA after his name. If it were me I'd report the complete episode to the practice manager. If he cba to do his job, he shouldn't be doing his job, end of afaic.
