    Default engine nightmare

Hi All, hope you can help as i,m new here

Before i ask i have to let you know why i am asking,

I purchased a vectra c believing it to be a 1.9 cdti sri (150) with a knackered engine that had been stripped apart and left with just the bottom end in it and the rest chucked in a box in the boot (first mistake)

I located another z19dth engine paid for it today and picked it up i then got the car on a ramp and proceeded to remove what was left,I then noticed a couple of differences and then pulled the box of bits out the boot to find a 8v cyl head and a z19dt sticker on the timing belt cover

so my question is will the 16v engine run in this car i know there,s a swirl valve motor in the 16v but this should not operate as my ecu won't be looking for it. I have checked wiring diagrams for both engine types and the both look the same with the same components wired to the same pin location in the ecu so can't see why it shouldn't work BUT hope you peeps may know better

Thanks for reading i know its a bit of a story but this is my dilema

Sorry to hear about your problem. I don't know the answer. Have a free bump anyway, though.

Good luck getting the car sorted.

In the absence of a more knowledgeable reply - - - I would expect at least the ECU mapping to be quite different. As changing the ECU is difficult (security coding) it may be that having it re-mapped at a tuner to 150hp spec is the answer?

To add to your problems as the car you have is registered as a 120hp, insurance will class it as modified (to 150bhp) and load the policy. Seems you can't just declare it as 150bhp as they now use the original registration details from DVLA.

    Good luck!

Be interested to know if yours runs without coding pump and injectors to ecu ,opinions vary as to wether you need to do this.
