Default these boost/vaccum pipes ...what do they do?

ive just been having a good luck round the engine bay as i can smell fuel when the engine is running ?

i come across a pipe that looks very perished on the front of the engine just in front of the oil filler cap.

the pipe in question comes off a unit which i think says "vaccum " on it and goes to a metal pipe.

as i said this pipe is very worn/persihed.

what is its function and would it make my engine response a bit sluggish?

also any ideas why i can smell fuel when the engine is running? i cant see any leaks but i can definatley smell it towards the back left hand corner of the engine at the top?

car is a cdti 150 sri.

    cheers

    steve

just a little check, make sure your injectors seals are ok and not chuffing take the cover off and listen for a tuffing noise and look at the injectors and make sure there is no bubbling and if there ok check all the breather pipes etc as for the vacuum pipe i dont think it could cause the smell but it would cause there to be a drop in performance

    Default

The pipes control the wastegate and boost as well as braking.

what you need is som 4mm internal diamiter silicone pipe off ebay, about £3 a meter you only need 1 meter on the 150.
