Muscle biopsy

Anyone had one done?? Just got my appointment today for next Tuesday @0700hrs Sheffield Royal Hallamshire Hospital.

Last year had a load of problems with joint pains all over, a couple of steriod jabs in the ass sorted that but in Novenber all pains started to come back, including muscle and nerve pain in both legs. Had numerous tests done, EMG, Nerve test, what seems like hundreds of blood tests and a load more injections in the ass and now a muscle biopsy.

Just wondering what to expect really.

larger gauge needle inserted into the affected muscle that works like the ones they test on large cheddar cheese's - principlals the same although they dont remove it ....sniff it ....eat it and then drink some port

then again you DID say the Sheffield Royal Hallamshire Hospital.

Oh, i cant wait. Think i'll take the old mans siggy, might be easier to drive the auto box on the way home

Once the local anesthetic kicks in, you won't feel a thing, hopefully lol.

I had about 30 injections in my face and neck on Wednesday, it's no big deal mate, just a split second of ouch then it's fine.

Try having a discogram/lumbar puncture......you feel like you have had your spine removed lol.

You say you are having a lot of pain with your joints? I had this last year and it got quite severe. I just happened to run out of multi vits whilst offshore so did not take them and hey presto within a week more joint pain lessened by at least 60%

I still get joint pain and take voltarol an hour before I train and I take a multi vit every other day when offshore but it made hell of a difference to my joints.

donating Bone marrow was good fun too felt like i had fallen over on black ice for about a week - slight complication with a blood infection afterwards

but the worst part was the constipation from the iron tablets

Hats off to you for doing that. I got asked at a place I worked and I said yes. She then told me about 2 weeks before I was going to do it that she had nearly died because of a serious infection she had got. I withdrew my kind offer and started to give blood instead
