    Question MAF Problem? 2002 2.0dti vectra c

I removed my maf yesterday and i noticed there was no resistor on the housing just some terminals where it should go. I was just wondering if there should be one here? I have seen a replacement one on this website http://www.expressauto24.com/epages/...cts/0281002479
This shows there to be one but im not sure if this is a universal picture.

Your help would be much appreciated!!!

Can anyone help please? I'm looking at this because I am getting poor fuel consumption and I am working my way through the possibilities. I know the IAT and MAF are both in this unit. I'm just thinking that the IAT is working but the MAF isn't because the resistor is missing???

I'll see if i can check mine at some point today, but dont recall seeing a resistor on the housing.. If the MAF wasnt working correctly it would be running like a pig.

    Thanks for your help plasma!
I unpluged the maf sensor yesterday and started the car without it in. It started fine, sounded fine but wouldnt rev past 3 thou revs. I didnt try to drive it though. I would much appreciate it if you could have a look for me! All i can see when i remove the sensor from the housing is just two connection points, As shown on the website pic in first post, but obviously without the resistor. when I type the part number in google I find its only fitted in these cars

Thanks for the pics bobssignum! This is the same part number as mine but I still can't see the part where the resistor goes on the pics. It needs the screws removing and pulling out the sensor from the casing and the resistor is situated on the outside of that. I will try and remove mine later and post a picture of mine and a picture of the replacement one from the website above. I also contacted Vauxhall to ask and they were as useful as a chocolate fire guard!

    Thanks again Hugheso

The first pic is of my MAF sensor and as you can see there is no resistor there you can just see the terminals. In the second pic you see the same unit obviously removed from its housing but with a resistor there. And my question should I have one? I hope not as I will be wondering where its gone!
But if it should at least I know to get a new one!

Hope someone can clarify this for me!

    Thanks!

I think that's the actual air flow sensor, not a resistor - although they do look similar. It looks like it's broken off somehow.

Google 'MAF sensor' - there's loads of information and pictures about them.

Thanks for your input, I have looked at google and there is nothing definitive telling me. Could someone please take off theirs and let me know. It would be much appreciated!

    Thanks again
