Symptoms of a dead stat is the car will heat up and the fans cut in as normal when sitting in traffic or sat on the drive, but as soon as you drive off and get airflow over the rad you will lose all temperature in the engine cooling system.

my gage moves very little and has for the last couple of months practically non existent when driving, have looked when stationary or noticed, but im just wondering if there is any other sensors that may be faulty

Could be the temperature sender I guess. Next time after you have been out for 5-10 miles and return home, sit in the car with the engine running, just ticking over and watch the gauge. If it rises to 90ish and then the fans come on and off then its more than likely the stat.

100% it's the stat, they are prone to fail on the CDTI and VX now supply a modified one.

cant drive for a while as i have just had acl reconstruction my knee, got the modified one of the bay ordered yesterday lunch received this morning, has anyone done a how 2 change as i cant find one anywhere
