    Default Auto boxes?

I know the C had a few probs with auto boxes ( water getting in, i think ) but did they sort the problem out, and what is the best year to get a good, revised one, i'm thinking either a 3.0cdti or 1.9 cdti, Ta.

    OOHH YESS!!!

just one or two problems with the heat exchangers allowing the coolant and the trans fluid to mix..

My advice.. get as late a car as you can afford..oh and auto 1.9's are hard to find BTW.. we had to travel quite a way to get my dad's one..

there was no 'fix' date..VX just replace them as the appear..you may get lucky..or you may not

    Found one HERE
    Mileage is a bit high (28,351) but it's cheap. '05 1.9CDTi Auto for £9,499 can't be bad

If you give the box a hard time..towing or cabbing or driving hard, you are supposed to get the gearbox fluid changed every 60,000 miles..as i tow up to the limit i tend to change mine with the cambelt every 30,000 miles..

Go for the Signum V6 CDTI automatic in Elite trim. Have a look at this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1

It is from a Vx dealer, a Network Q car, with low mileage and has all, repeat, all the goodies. You cannot even have some as an option now e.g. all electric memory seats etc.

Do you have a garage do it or diy Mark?

How much does it cost if done at garage?

Is it the same process as the Omega ones? i.e check level with engine running fill until it spills?

    I've had 3 Vx auto's so far,

1 - Cavalier 2.0 Diplomat, lasted 2 weeks after purchase, sent for repair, failed, dealer put a Vx recon in it in the end, lasted another 65k

2 - Omega 2.5 CDX, bought with 69k on it, started slipping @ 105k sold on as is at 125k

3 - Omega 2.2 CD, bought with 17k, sold in perfect working order @ 65k

I think the oil changes are crucial whatever use the car gets, btw all 3 of the above had a different box to the ones now fitted to the Vec's.
