    Default 17 year olds insurance

Anyone help wife pal's son just passed his test today and was looking to get insured on his mums 1.4 ford focus, but with quotes of 5-9 thousand this is't going to happen, i have tried quotes for him as sole driver on a 1ltr corsa and the cheapest i have found was £3500, anyone any suggestions.

Add his mum to the policy and see if he can live with not driving between 11pm and 5am. If he can, try i-kube insurance.

thats the prices i was getting at that age...try quinn direct or elephant/bell/admiral. although the service from the last 3 (EUI) in the event of an accident is very poor.

Exactly. Mate was looking at an old 1.7 diesel Astra (think they're 70hp) so pretty much the same as a 1.2 Corsa. Car we found was an LS model, 160,000 miles in white, and had no extras. The car itself was £700 but the cheapest insurance quote we got was £5000! Basically saying he was going to write it off completely 7 times in a year. No wonder there's so many uninsured drivers, people can't afford it. If they dropped the prices and stopped hiking them up, more people would be able to pay.
