Auto box and Tech 2

Hey peeps,

Just got of the phone to VX, I called to see if they had my gearbox oil in stock so I could do an oil change this week as its at the 40k mile mark.
I gave him my VIN as I have private plate and not sure on the original reg. Anyway he put me on hold to go and check, he then came back said he had plenty in stock but due to the model of my gearbox to I know Tech 2 is required to do an oil change.
He said the method is they drain the box, put a litre in, run to bring to temp then plug in tech 2 and that tells them how much to put in till the oil is all changed. This however is news to me, so are they trying to get some work outa me and this is BS or is this correct. I have asked for a price and they are calling me back.

What model and engine size? Is it an AF33 gearbox? I dont really know the usefullness of tech 2 during draining and refilling of ATF fluid.

Not sure I will ask them when they call, But its a 2006 2.2 direct if that helps lol

if its an AF33 gearbox, you need ATF3309 t-iv fluid....used in toyota and saab 93,
google Mobil ATF 3309 online or equivalent, this is assuming you have the af33 box. Its also DIYable, do more search on this forum and you will find more details about autobox. thanks

ask cave man nige he has an auto but thats a 2.0t but i bet its the same gearbox no?? i ent goot a clue on autos tho mate so im just nameing the people with autos and i know thats an auto dowt you need tech 2 tho as i dont need it for a manual

as usaul STILL waiting for call of VX, all I want is a quote to have it done lol. Might give the other vx dearlership a call.

There is a how2 on a auto gearbox but not sure its the same as mine. Vx wouldnt/couldnt tell me even when I gave them my VIN they just said mmmmm I will have to ask someone and call you back.

Its a 2006 2.2 direct sri.

I'm almost sure (99%) you have a AF40 on your car. There is no need for Tech2. Just follow these instructions:

The right oil to buy would be GM 1940773. This would be the catalog number.
