    Default Squeaking heater fan

Well mines been squeaking like a banshee wailer since I bought the car. Been driving me up the wall... especially when wanting to use air con. But I have never wanted to spend £300 on a new one (supllied - not fitted).

I was just having a look at the pollen filter tonight and cleaning out the moisture shute and when I took out the pollen filter I saw the heater motor is right near the openning. I was able to lift the fan up about 3mm with a long screw driver in my left hand and stick my WD40 (using the small can which will go in openning) straw in the gap. I pumped in some oil and worked the fan round and hey presto!!... silent fan.

    Happy days :O)

    yesterday mine start chirping too....
but mine sound hears from back of center console...(somewhere behind the stereo unit...but little deeper)...and sounds like something would rub the heater blades...
So I will check later if my heater motor is lifting up...like waterbourne says...
And will try to spray some WD40 in there....

Mine did it, I turned fans on full but closed the vents and squirted sillicon spray in the vent behind the pollen filter. This sorted it and it been fine since

Aim for the centre of the fan unit,(where the bearing is),and you shouldn't have any further probs.FELIXX.

Make sure there's no water running into it from under the scuttle panel either, check the drains and make sure they are clear.

On my old Astra the seal between windscreen and scuttle became rotten so water leaked through it and into the blower motor, breaking it!

And if it does die just get a new one off of fleabay for £50

Default WD40 v Silicone Spray Lubricant

Just to report that I tried WD40 into the top of the blower motor first of all, and the squeaking improved for a few days but was gradually reappearing. I then tried Silicone Spray and that seems to have done a better job.

Try some motorbike chain lube s it also has a bit of grease/wax in it and will not dry out like WD40
