Single Tap On Pressing Brake Peddle

My Vectra C has started making a single click or tap sound (from the front of the car) when pressing the brake peddle. Seems to happen when the car is moving slowly, say under 25MPH (moving in a que of traffic etc), not when stationary and not going above 30MPH!


Have been in garage recently for tracking to be done and I mentioned it but they advised me nothing untoward going on.

Any idea what is going on?

I am aware that the ABS goes through some sort of "test" when you first brake at low speed. Maybe it keeps doing this?

I'd strip the front brakes and give them a good clean with brake cleaner.

Having said that, can you tell if the noise is coming from the brakes, or just the front of the car in general? Could be ARB bush or ball joint.

I get a little bit of a clunk (more over than a tap) under the same circumstances and was told it was because I have mintex brake pads (not VX style).

Not sure what causes it but have heard it mentioned on here before

I can feel it under my foot when it happens!..so im guessing its directed at the brakes themselves.
